Andre Lee Muñiz is a Boricua raised in the projects of Brooklyn.
Passionate about Boricua self-empowerment but trained in NYU to be a math teacher, Andre has worked in community projects, after-school programs, and alternative school settings teaching math, Puerto Rican history, and facilitating youth leadership programs.
Andre also worked from 2013-2016 as the NYC Regional Editor for La Respuesta magazine, an online publication “by, for, and about” the Boricua Diaspora.
In 2018 Andre was initiated in Brooklyn, NY into the Afro-Cuban orisha tradition.
Driven to push himself as an athlete and gain new skills, Andre went on to join the U.S. Army Reserve, successfully completing Basic Combat Training and Officer Candidate School.
Choosing to honor the powerful legacy of Puerto Rico’s most impactful 20th century leader, Andre created ‘Remembering Don Pedro’ in the summer of 2020 as a website dedicated to chronicling the life and work of Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos.
