Hybrid Book Talk In NYC

Andre Lee Muñiz/ The People’s Forum – Events (November 2022)

The People’s Forum, located on 320 West 37th Street in Manhattan, invited Remembering Don Pedro to have a booktalk on November 17, 2022. The hybrid event was in-person and virtual, with artist Yasmín Hernandez joining the book talk online from Puerto Rico.

The organizers of Philly’s Latin American Book Fair invited Remembering Don Pedro to take part in their fourth book fair in Love Park on September 23, 2022.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona, Classic Material NY invited Remembering Don Pedro to have a book signing in their space located in Williamsburg on October 15, 2022.


Meet-The-Author/ Book Signing Events In The Bronx

For the month of September, in recognition of Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos’ birthday and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Nationalist Party of Puerto Rico, Remembering Don Pedro was hosted for two book events in the Bronx. The first, on Saturday September 10, was hosted by El Maestro, Inc. The second, on Wednesday September 14, was hosted by Barrio BX. Vida y Hacienda is the first biography of the renowned revolutionary leader from Puerto Rico to be written in English. It offers the general history detailed in most accounts, and includes topics not commonly featured in writings on Don Pedro, especially in the English language. Such topics include his early childhood and academic accomplishments, his military studies and training in Harvard’s R.O.T.C. program, his 1936 effort to hold a constitutional convention while also on trial for seditious conspiracy, his wife Dr. Laura Meneses de Albizu Campos, and more.

Yasmín Hernandez – Virtual Art Exhibition (Temporary, April 16 – May 16, 2021)

This virtual art exhibition featured thirteen works by Yasmín Hernández centered around Don Pedro from 1994-2020. As part of the temporary exhibition to commemorate the anniversary of Don Pedro’s transition, five events took place–four via live streaming on the internet (view them using the links below), and one in person as part of Lolita’s Bodega in Chicago.
